AWESOME MANDOLIN PLAYER & HUMBLE, TOO!
Gerry Tamber
Mandolin/Guitar/Vocals
Gerry has been playing with The Shade Tree Pickers since it's
resurgence in 2008. He got his first guitar ($13.00) after seeing Elvis
on The Ed Sullivan Show. Gerry proceeded to develop a love of
Doo-Wop
and Folk music and played both during Middle and High School.
Born in New York, he graduated Boston University in 1968 and
did graduate work at The City College of N.Y.
After Gerry and Penny were married, they relocated to South Florida,
and together, in 1977 began a horticultural business:
"Southern Tropicals, Inc."
for the development of interior rain forests at Zoos and Botanical
Gardens throughout the US and Canada.
It was in Florida that Gerry began jamming with bluegrass
groups. He picked up the Mandolin years later as there seemed to
be very few "mandolinistas" available.
"I used to do a lot of scuba diving, boating and fishing...even did
some sky-diving and played golf.
Now I play Bluegrass!
